Setting up Studiosity Validate in your assignment
Go to your Course >> Assignments >> +Assignment and fill in the required details as normal.
In the Submission Type box, select ‘Studiosity Validate’.

A tool button appears - click it to open the Validation parameters.

Alternative method: Adding Validate as a Document Processing App
If your assignment uses Online submission with File Uploads rather than the External Tool method above, add Studiosity Validate as a Document Processing App instead:
Set Submission Type to ‘Online’ and click ‘File Uploads’

Under Document Processing App(s), click Add Document Processing App.

Choose Studiosity Validate from the list of available apps.
Studiosity Validate now appears under Document Processing App(s).
This adds Validate as a processor for uploaded files, rather than as the assignment's submission method. Results still appear in the Educator Portal.
Set the AI permission level
Whichever method you used to add Validate - External Tool or Document Processing App, both - set your Validation parameters next, starting with the AI Permission Level.
No AI: The assessment is intended to reflect the student's independent knowledge, understanding and skills without AI assistance at any stage
AI Planning: AI may be used to support early-stage activities such as brainstorming, outlining and initial research, while the final submission should reflect the student's own development and refinement of those ideas.
AI Collaboration: AI may be used to support parts of the task, including drafting, feedback and refinement, provided the student engages critically with the output and shapes the final submission in their own way.
Full AI: AI may be used throughout the task, with the emphasis on how effectively the student directs, evaluates and applies AI to meet the assessment goals.
AI Exploration: The assessment actively invites students to use AI creatively to explore new approaches, generate insights, or develop innovative responses within the task and/or discipline.
Set the Validate threshold
The threshold sets how firmly the work must be anchored to the student, given the AI permission level you just chose from Essential, Comprehensive or Definitive.
Essential: Baseline benchmarks for authorship continuity and/or cognitive command signals. The baseline confirmation that the foundation is secure and the work is safely anchored to the student.
Comprehensive: Increased benchmarks for authorship continuity and/or cognitive command signals. A higher degree of certainty that the student is the primary driver of the work is required.
Definitive: Highest benchmarks for authorship continuity and/or cognitive command signals. The link between the student and the work must be rigorously demonstrated.
Publish and confirm Validate is configured
Click Add to Assignment, then Save and Publish your assignment. You should now see a box confirming Validate has been configured correctly.
Note: if you selected the tool in Submission Type but didn't click the setup button, you'll see a “Validate not configured” message after saving. Edit the assignment and complete that step to fix it.
Accessing the educator portal
Click any Studiosity link within Canvas - the Studiosity Validate icon in your course navigation, or the global nav link - to open the Educator Portal.
The dashboard lists every assignment you've created, including due dates, validation thresholds, AI policy, and how many submissions are submitted, validated and graded.
Review full cohort results in list, and at an individual level
Open an assignment to see every student's status. Click a validated student's name to review their Human Factors, Authorship Continuity and Cognitive Command Q&A results, then click Grade Submission to jump straight into Canvas SpeedGrader.
